Why Choose Us For Your Wood Products?
Cleaner Burn
When you purchase firewood from Southern Legacy Wood Product, you can breathe easier knowing you are burning the cleanest firewood available in today’s market. There’s no need to worry about the dangerous emissions you might experience with inferior firewood.
Our kiln dried wood burns cleaner, minimizing the amount of creosote buildup in your chimney or flue. Creosote is a byproduct released from improperly burned firewood that can clog your flue or chimney and requires professional chimney cleaning services. Creosote can also be hazardous to your health if it’s left unattended. But with the cleaner-burning wood at Southern Legacy Wood Firewood, there’s less risk of creosote buildup.
Pest and Mold Free
Most firewood is sourced from tree removal services and then left who-knows-where for who-knows-how-long. When you purchase wood like this, there is a high likelihood that you’re also bringing home unwanted pests. Insect-infested wood makes storing firewood inside your home impossible. It can also have devasting consequences when stored outside, as you’re allowing bugs to take up residence in your outdoor firewood storage area.
When you purchase your wood from Southern Legacy Wood Firewood, we ensure that your products are insect- and fungus-free. By kiln drying our firewood, this kills all bugs, fungus, mold and mildew — and it even cleans up bark and debris. That means when our delivery artisans drop off your order, they can carefully stack your firewood anywhere you wish, indoors or outdoors, without your having to worry about a mess.
Top Quality Firewood
If you’ve never purchased high-end artisan firewood, then you’ve been missing out. Your best fire experiences await when you buy from Southern Legacy Wood Firewood. Most firewood you find is green or moldy, having just been sourced from tree removals. But our wood is kiln dried and conditioned for 48 hours. That’s 12-times the USDA requirement for kiln dried woods.
Kiln drying firewood is a quick and efficient process that provides you with incredible benefits. This includes fires that ignite easier with a single match. And, once lit, your fire will burn brighter for longer, with less smoke than any other types of firewood. Plus, kiln drying kills pests and fungus, ensuring you have the cleanest, best-quality wood for your fire.

About Us
It’s a long story, but I’ll give you the short version! Mount Yonah Lumber Yard was established by my grandfather, Donald E. Thurmond (Poppy) back in 1959. Mount Yonah Lumber served as one the leading producers of southern pine lumber in the southeast. Much of Atlanta was built using boards sawn and planed from this property.
My grandfather sold his interest in Mount Yonah Lumber shortly before his death in 2006. Mount Yonah Lumber continued its operation until 2010 when it was shut down due to the slowing economy. It was almost (13) Years later that I, along with my business partner found a way to purchase the property back from the bank that had taken it. On September 19, 2018 the former Mount Yonah Lumber Co made its way back into our hands.
With the property now secured, what was going to be done with it? I wanted to make my Grandfather and his former business partners (all deceased) proud. I knew we wanted to continue doing something in the forestry /agriculture industry, but the lumber business had turned south and we needed to find another use for the property.
It took 139 LONG days from ground breaking to our first load rolling out the doors and headed to Home Depot!
We’ve now been in business for over four years and grown to producing 500 Truck Loads (1,000,000 Bundles) of premium select hardwoods delivered to retailers all over the United States. We also offer local sales at 1605 Helen Hwy Cleveland GA. Bundles are always available with an honor payment system. Cabins / Retail Stores can purchase pallets of wood as well. Last, we have an “Ugly Wood” pile. This is all 100% Kiln Dried wood that didn’t meet the spec requirements for our bundles.
